A member of the EFS staff personally interviews very potential donor candidate without exception. In addition to obtaining a comprehensive medical history, the donation process is reviewed in detail, including specific responsibilities and medical requirements. A follow- up appointment is then scheduled for a complete physical examination by a reproductive endocrinologist. This exam includes a vaginal ultrasound to assess the quality of each candidate’s ovarian potential. The potential donor will then participate in a one hour personal interview with an experienced, licensed therapist. An in depth report of the information obtained in this interview is provided in its entirety, for the intended parents to review. The potential donor also submits our completed 23 page questionnaire and provides multiple photos of from infancy to the present, including a minimum of one photo of her biological siblings and parents.
This information is then reviewed to insure that each candidate meet our specific qualifications. Once the potential donor is accepted into our program, you have access to initial profiles an up to three unedited reports (in their entirety) and photos prior to being requested to make a financial commitment to work with EFS.
After you select your perfect donor, we continue our commitment to the prescreening process.: Your donor has blood work drawn and screened for infectious diseases as well as for any genetic condition that might be common to the donor and intended parent’s ethnic background. A random urine sample is collected and screened for drugs. As members of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), we stringently follow their practice standards, as well as the requirements of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in our screening of donors. We work closely with intended parents, donors, doctors and staff to provide quality, professional, sensitive and confidential services throughout the donation process.
